RUSTIC WINTER PORCH DECORATED WITH PINE CLIPPINGS, GRAPEVINE, GALVANIZED OLIVE BUCKETS, BLACK AND WHITE BUFFALO PLAID, AND HUNTER BOOTS!
This is my last post before Christmas and I wanted to share with you my simple rustic winter porch. Wow I really under-did myself with this one. I told you all in earlier posts I wasn’t going to a lot of trouble and by keeping it simple I also saved myself tons of decorating time. I got out my handy dandy little red wagon, and made my rounds from pine tree to pine tree clipping as I went. We have several varieties on our property so I try and take a little from each kind to create a mixture of textures and colors.
I already had the olive buckets on my porch, they had ferns in them for summer and you can see that here, so all I had to do was plop the pine branches in the bucket. I didn’t even go to the bother of trimming them to fit into a nice arrangement. They just got that under-did look that I mentioned before. I have a little trick for keeping my olive buckets from tipping over; I keep a landscape paver in the bottom of each one. It’s always so windy at the cabin that if I don’t they continually tip over, get damaged, and the contents spill out of them. After it happened a few times I finally got smart and resolved the issue.
And to tie it all together I added fresh cypress to the handmade rustic grapevine wreath along with a buffalo check bow, and hung my black and white plaid flannel shirt from a nail. Now if that’s not rustic I don’t know what is. I always keep a pair of Hunter boots right outside the door to slip on when it’s raining, muddy, or snowy. I have several pair in different colors so I swap out which pair resides on the deck with the season.
I must say I’ve enjoyed keeping it simple this year. It takes a little while to get used to because every other blogger has beautiful Christmas displays but I’m ok with it being just how it is. I’m on a mission to weed through our home after the holidays and downsize on decor items I’m no longer needing. I hate keeping things around in case I might want them some day. All that stuff takes up to much room, and an overabundance of stuff stresses me out.
